Destructive Testing on 37X7, 30mm Steel Wire Rope with Spelter Socketing

It has been quite awhile since we last performed Destructive Testing, DT on Steel Wire Rope Sling; hence the team was excited to be performing another run upon receiving an DT request from our value customer this month.

Our customer team arrived early on test day to observe the Test Gear (37X7, 30mm Wire Rope Sling with spelter socketing on both ends) setup onto our in-house TALURIT (100T) Test Bed, to visualize and observe the full process of the destructive testing on their requested test gear.

The entire test flow took the team about an hour to complete...from setup, pull-test proper, and up till the close-up observation on the failure characteristic of the steel wire rope sling after test. Note that this exclude the cold socketing process: preparing of the steel wire rope onto the open spelter socket; that the STL operations team prepared in advance, requiring at least 12hours of curing.

Test Gear: 30mm (37X7) Steel Wire Rope with Spelter Socketing (Both Ends)

Test Equipment: 100T TALURIT Test Bed

Test Objective: Full Tensile Testing till Destruction to capture the performance characteristic
