Load Testing with DLM Digital Load Cell
August 28, 2023 Proof Load Test, a pull test with a controlled, measured application of force over a specific amount of time period, typically from 1.1 to 1.5 times of the designated load (Safe Working Load, SWL) or the maximum set working load (MAWL), is given to the Test Gear to ensure it exceeds the set requirements.
To ensure accuracy and better control of the verified proof load on the test gear during the load test, STL introduced the usage of Digital Load Cell* - the DLM Tensile Link (TL-3.0) together with the Telemetry Handheld (TW-3.0) to validate the Load Test Results that is provided real time during the entire load testing flow. The using of the digital device also allows the STL team to capture the test readings of the loading easily for future validation.
Below pictures (left to right) shows the team validating the test gear (1Ton chain hoist) to be load tested with the new digital test cell, zeroing/ tare the load cell, and confirming the proof load to be at least 1.5x SWL (1.5Tons) while holding the load.

Below pictures shows the proof load test readings on the DLM digital hand held device for the load testing on the 1Ton chain hoist.
