Wire Rope Tester Equipment - Magnetic Rope Testing  (NDT)

The Wire Rope Test Equipment with "Wire Rope AI Inspection Technology" which STL acquires, utilizes non-contact weak magnetic sensing and AI to conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) on steel wire ropes. This innovative technology can detect various flaws like broken wires, wear, rust, and fatigue both externally and internally in the steel wire rope core. It offers a fast and accurate way to identify flaws that may not be visible to the naked eye.

Above picture shows the Wire Rope Tester (Inspection Equipment Set), which consist of 2 Equipment... (1) Magnetiser Equipment and (2) Flaw Analyser Equipment, which the STL Team utilizes to perform the NDT on the crawler crane's wire rope.

SITE INSPECTION ON CRAWLER CRANE'S WIRE ROPE

TIME/LOC: JAN - Q1'2025 , CONSTRUCTION JOB SITE

Activity flow of Inspection Team:

  1. Completion of the Safety Briefing on Inspection Site: Prior to beginning work, the team ensures that all members are briefed on safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks during the inspection.
  2. Assemble Tester Equipment (Fixtures/ Test Information upload): The team gathers and sets up the necessary testing equipment, including fixtures and uploads relevant test information for the inspection process.
  3. Equip with Personal Protective Equipment (Harness and Lifeline): Each team member dons personal protective equipment such as harnesses and lifelines to ensure their safety while working on the crane (at heights).
  4. Installation of Tester Equipment on Crane's Wire Rope to be tested: The team installs the testing equipment on the crane's wire rope that is to be inspected, ensuring that it is securely in place for accurate testing.
  5. Close loop communication with Crane Operator on the Testing Flow: Effective communication with the crane operator is crucial to coordinate the testing flow and ensure that the inspection process proceeds smoothly and safely.
  6. Start Inspection Flow from Reel Start to Limit range - "End" of the Wire Rope: The team initiates the inspection process, starting from the reel start point and moving along the wire rope until reaching the limit range or the end of the wire rope.
  7. Review and download Inspection data - Complete Inspection: After completing the inspection, the team reviews the gathered data to ensure accuracy and completeness. The inspection process is considered complete at this stage.
  8. Data Retrieval and Generate Report upon RTO (Return To Office): The team retrieves the inspection data, compiles the findings, and generates a detailed report summarizing the inspection results. This report is typically prepared upon returning to the office (RTO) for further analysis and documentation.
